The Bible is the inspired Word of God, the sole basis of our belief and the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. In its entirety it originated with God and was given through the instrumentality of chosen human agents.
God is one, yet exists eternally in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of deity and the characteristics of personality. He created the world, thus revealing the glory of His power, wisdom and goodness. He continues to sustain it and order the affairs of people and nations according to His own wise, eternal plan.
Jesus Christ is the eternal second person of the Trinity who was united forever with a true human nature. He lived a life of perfect obedience to the Father and voluntarily atoned for the sins of His people by dying on the cross as their substitute, thus satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him alone. His resurrection from the dead and ascension bodily into heaven mean that He is the only Mediator between God and Man. At the end of history He will return personally, visibly and bodily to judge all mankind and to receive His people unto Himself.
Salvation is totally a work of God’s free grace, not the result, in whole or in part, of human works or goodness, and is appropriated by faith. The central purpose of God’s revealing Himself in Scripture is to call people into fellowship with Himself.
The Holy Spirit was sent into the world by the Father and the Son to enable us to live a life of holiness and obedience to God, as He reproduces the life of His Son in us. We are to demonstrate that new life by our love for one another in worship, nurture and fellowship and by our love for others in our ministries of compassion and service.
